Please note that I'm doing this with utter respect for ScooterDMan and what he started. Call it homage. I apologize if I'm stepping on toes, but thought he had a great idea to use as a guideline for other reviews.
Like ScooterDMan's aforementioned criteria, the idea is simple. I've written a few standard tags, along with a logo and guidelines, that might help make things look a bit more stylized and consistant. If anyone doesn't want to follow this stuff, go for it; for those that do, however, this might make things a bit simpler. So without further ado, some blatant ripoffery guidelines, courtsey of Scooter's basic skeleton for the music sections.
1. Reviewers should include cover artwork with each review. Screenshots would also be nice.
2. In the caption for the cover art, reviewers should make it a practice to include links to online stores where readers can buy the game.
3. Tag each review "game-review" in addition to studio and series tags so that all of our reviews will be located in one place. Choose "entertainment" for the category.
4. Like Scooter's music section, I've made a little cache of graphics. Instead of grapes, I chose the classic D-Pad as the symbol for game reviews, figuring that there should be some differentiation between reviews. Check it out here.
5. Thanks to Russ' Crackdown review published on 3/4/2007, we added a sixth rating to the mix, the coveted "Gamevine Gold Award." In respect to what it represents, we ask that this rating only be given to the five-star games that truly have that extra panache that deserves the highest of the high honors.
And of course, here is an example of a Newsvine Game Review.
I know the interest in technology is high here, especially as a hub of Web 2.0 activity, so I hope we get some good reviews and discussions flowing.
